Lucia Naviglio
Soprano
Born in Bari, Italy, Lucia studied under Maestro G.Lo
Russon Toma and Rina Filippini del Monaco.
At the early age of 18, during her debut, Lucia had the
opportunity to meet and be directed by the famous Italian
composer ‘Maestro Nino Rota’ with whom she formed a great
working realtionship.
Early in her career Lucia performed a vast repertoire of
‘Lieder and Oratori’ where she displayed great competence
and was highly acclaimed by the public and critics. Among
these are “Stabat Mater” - G.B.Pergolesi: “Requiem” and
“Messa dell’ Incoronazione” - W.A.Mozart; “Wesendonck
Lieder” - R. Wagner; “Vier Letzte Lieder” - R.Strauss:
Symphony No. 1 “Jeremiah” - L.Bernstein; “Rabelesiana” - N.
Rota; “Lieder” - F. Scubert ; “Ah Perfido” - L. Van
Beethoven; “Messa di Requiem” - G.Verdi.
After having successfully won two important competitions,
‘Mattia Battistini’ in Rieti and ‘Mario del Monaco’ in
Castelfranco Veneto, Lucia started her successful operatic
career in more than 30 cities in the world including Paris,
Zurich, Cairo, Mantova, Pisa, Lucca, Bologna, Livorno,
Napoli, Bari, Iesi, Bonn, Aachen, Nice, Tourcoing, Gissen,
Perugia, Milan and Como.
Lucia’s repertoire covers over 20 roles which include Leonra,
Santuzza, Margherita, Charlotte, Dalila, Abigaille, Carmen,
Amneris, Elisabetta, Amelia, Maddalena and Tosca and has
been involed in television and radio shows and has also
recorded the opera ‘Ifigenia in Tauride’ – Nicolo’ Piccinni
and ‘Gugliemo Ratcliff’ – P. Mascagni. Other recordings on
CD include ‘I dialoghi” – G. F. Malipiero and ‘ Il Salotto
Napoletano tra Rivoluzione e Restauzione’ for OPUS 111 (this
Cd won the prestigious ‘Diapason D’Oro’ prize and was highly
acclaimed by the critics). Lucia also performed with the
‘Opera der Stadt Company’ in Bonn for a period of four years
where she was directed by Giancarlo del Monaco.
